YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Denise Best, E-RYT-200, began practicing yoga in 1971. Her first instructor studied in India with Swami Satchidananda. In the 1980's she studied with Dr. Devdas Ranchod, a chiropractor in Bellevue, Washington.
Denise began teaching Hatha yoga through the Wellness Program at the U. S. Forest Service in 1993.
Since then she has taught classes, including a yoga class for the Benewah Community Hospital Wellness
Program. She has given introductory lectures, demonstrations and classes to local groups such as Weight
Watchers, Head Start, TOPS, a Women's Veterans Retreat, Rotary Club and an equestrian riders group.
Denise completed 200 hours of Teacher Training for Hatha yoga on July 1, 2012 through instructor Allison Rubin at Harmony Yoga
in Spokane, Washington. She is registered with Yoga Alliance (E- RYT-200).
She continues her studies through workshops and classes on anatomy, yoga for hips, back, and upper body, and yoga for scoliosis with such respected teachers as Julie Gudmestad, Janice Vien, Elise Miller Browning, and Jason Crandell. She attends a weekly class with an RYt 500 trained teacher to expand her own personal practice and that of her students.
In the past, Denise experienced the long-term pain of two bulging discs in her lower back and sciatica in her left leg. "Yoga has been such a benefit to me, not only for the relief of back pain and restoring my mobility, but also for me mentally and spiritually. I am honored and very happy to share what I have learned with others."
Her classes are gentle, alignment oriented and tailored to the individuals in class. She emphasizes the many physical benefits of yoga, the importance of the breath in yoga practice, and on balancing body mind and spirit.
